Thirteen New Songs Recorded to DSD and Available as DSD Downloads from the California Audio Show.

Blue Coast Records and Sony Home Electronics hosted 6 artists from whose performances were recorded to Direct Stream Digital (DSD) at the California Audio Show.  The artists involved in the free event were Keith Greeninger (Blue Coast Records), Emily Palen (Valence Records), Joshua Lowe and the Juncos (indie artists), Steve Vidaic (Immersive Records), Valerie Joyce (Chesky Records) and Janet Feder (indie artist).  Each artist told stories and entertained the audience with 2 or more songs, now available for free download at Blue Coast Records (registration and log in required).

Cookie Marenco, producer and founder of Blue Coast Records, and her crew from OTR Studios provided the Sonoma System DSD recorder along with all the gear to capture a raw Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.) performance. In front of a crowd of more than 60 people for each performance, the musicians recorded live without headphones or overdubs direct to 2 channel DSD at 2.8MHz.  Motoyuki Sugiura and the Sony team setup playback after recording using their AR-1 Speakers.

Patrick O'Connor was the mastering engineer for the DSD recordings and supervised the preparation of DSD for consumer download.  The PCM versions were converted using Korg's AudioGate software.

This was the third year in a row that Marenco and Blue Coast Records has had live performances recorded to DSD at the California Audio Show.  The first show in 2010, was the first time DSD downloads were delivered through the internet to music lovers worldwide.
